End of Unlimited Hosting Plan

Dear Clients,

Recently we have seen server stability issues due to excessive disk space usage from customers with Unlimited Hosting plans. We added more storage to alleviate the shortage, but the new hard disk drives (HDD) with larger capacity like 4TB and 8TB do not perform well. We believe HDD technology is old and possibly end of life. The latest storage devices are Solid State Drives (SSD) and they perform 5x better compared to HDD but have smaller capacity. We are unable to provide SSD as unlimited disk space given the limited space and cost.

We also have seen backups fail on Unlimited Hosting accounts with more than 100GB of data. It is also now common for backup process to complete at least 20 hours every day. This adds unwanted CPU and IO load making the server sluggish and performing poorly.

Because of the disk space and backup challenges, we decided to stop offering the Unlimited Hosting plan from now on.

For clients with existing Unlimited Hosting, we will continue the service until end of term. Accounts will be downgraded to Business Hosting with 10GB disk space allocation upon renewal. We urge clients to erase old emails and clean the trash bin. Removing these unwanted files reduce disk space by 70%.  If there is a need for more disk space please contact our support.

Thank you for your continued patronage.

Sincerely,

Web.com.ph Inc.
